Betfair Poker player wins signed WSOPE final Table
....and just shy of $50k
After weeks of online qualification the inaugural Betfair Online Side Series (B.O.S.S) reached its dramatic conclusion in the early hours of Monday morning when the B.O.S.S. Main Event winner was crowned as well as the three side event winners.
As an added incentive and probably the most significant and desirable prize given away by any poker room ever, the winner of the BOSS Main Event also receives the ACTUAL poker table used in the WSOPE Main Event Final signed by the Champion Barry Shulman, runner-up Daniel Negreanu and the rest of the final table nine PLUS the deck of cards that decided the 2009 WSOPE Main Event Championship. The winner in each of the three side events will also receive an exclusive Betfair Poker chipset.
B.O.S.S . is an online festival of poker celebrating the recent World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair held at the Casino Empire, Leicester Square. It featured a little something for everybody at a range of buy ins to suit all bankrolls including a PLO Event for the Omaholics out there, a Pot Limit hold’em event for the Pot Limit sharks, a $10K GTD NLHE Event and of course the monstrous $100,000 GUARANTEED Main Event.
The action kicked off at 18:30 (UK) with the $100,000 GUARANTEED Main Event where 159 hopeful players generated a massive prize pool of $159,000! After just shy of 7 hours of intense action we had our Main Event winner; Apparaten from Sweden, who picked up a cool $47,700 for his victory and of course the WSOPE final table which is sure to make his home game buddies green with envy. In 2nd place was HoldemHindi winning $31,800 and back in 3rd position was Pollenflug netting an $18,921 pay day. Betfair sponsored pro Peter Jepsen finished in a noteworthy 10th place in the BOSS showpiece event.
Next to kick off were the side events beginning with the $10,000 GTD NLHE Event in which 291 players paid $50 each generating a total prize pool of $16,005! After 3h 56m of play, FireAce emerged victorious winning over $4,400 for his efforts. In the $7,000 GTD PLO Event, touten bested the field of 96 players to claim the Pot Limit Omaha title, bragging rights and the not too shabby $2,800 first prize. Next up was the $5K GTD Pot Limit Event which saw 210 players battle it out for a share of the $5,250 prize pool. Eventually won by Leaderboard regular MessiLionel after 3h 18m of play, he had to battle stiff competition on the final table from Betfair pro John ‘Kunku wap’ Tabatabai who went on to finish in 4th place.
May we take this opportunity to congratulate the winners and thank all of our players that took part for making the very first Betfair Online Side Series a resounding success!
