Satellites into the WSOPE...

2008-07-23 09:35:06
WSOPE Europe 2008 Satellite tournaments have become increasingly popular in a world where the most prestigious poker tournaments have entry fees out of the reach of the recreational players.

Rather than awarding money as prizes, satellites give away entries to more expensive tournaments meaning players with limited bankrolls have the chance to play against their favourite professionals for huge sums of money.

The most famous satellite winner of recent times was Chris Moneymaker, who won a $40 satellite for the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event and went on to outlast 838 other players to win $2,500,000!

Betfair recognise that people are eager to emulate Moneymaker's success and have created a number of satellite tournaments for the 2008 WSOPE Main Event.

From Monday to Friday, at six times during the afternoon, $7.70 Daily Micro Satellites take place that guarantee at least one seat to the $55 level two tournaments. These rebuy games offer great value, as the numbers of entrants are usually quite low.

If you prefer a standard freezeout structure then there are $11 games running at 18:00 BST on Friday and Saturdays, along with one at midday on Sunday, that guarantee at least five seats to the $105 level two tournaments.

The $55 level two tournament promises three seats to the $550 bi-weekly final, whilst the $105 tournament guarantees five seats to the same $550 satellite, amazing value considering the number of players in these competitions.

Those who are lucky enough to make it through to the $550 final have a great chance of qualifying for the 2008 WSOPE Main Event.

Two $24,000 packages for the main event are guaranteed, with the remainder of the final table each being awarded another chance at qualification by the way of a seat in the next $550 final a fortnight later.

Whichever route you choose, I wish you the very best of luck in qualifying for the Betfair sponsored 2008 World Series of Poker Europe.
