Onto day five and Kenny Tran was eliminated in a hand against eventual winner Annette Obrestad. Looking down at 7c 7h Annette opened the pot to 22,000 and received a caller from the player to her left with 3c 3s. Action was folded to Tran who decided to move all in for his final 142,000 after looking down at Ah Kc. Annette then moved all in, excecuting a textbook ‘isolation raise' to get the third player to fold and get her hand heads up where it has the best chance of winning. Preflop the situation is close to a coinflip with Annette being only a 55% favorite to win the hand, this being nullified when the flop came 8h Kh 5d giving Tran the lead and making him an 88% favorite. On the turn Annette hits one of her two outs which ends Tran's tournament. He finished 16th for £34,390.
Regular UK Circuit player Karl Mahrenholtz pushed all his chips in for his tournament life holding Kh Qh. He was called by eventual 4th place finisher Oyvind Riisem and was in great shape against Riisem's Qs 8s. A 71% favorte preflop, this was increased to 89% on a flop of Qc 9d 2d. Already seeming dejected, Marenholtz seemed numb when the 8c feel on the turn making Riisem an 86% favorite to win the hand. With 6 outs going into the river (a King or Nine) none would come and Marenholtz was eliminated in 15th place for a £38,010 payday.
