Day 2B of the WSOPE main event saw many all in confrontations of pairs against pairs. Sets were being hit by the worst pair, the best pair and sometimes both. The odds of flopping a set are roughly 8-1.
5 time bracelet winner Allen Cunningham was one of the first players to flop a set on day 2B when holding 7h 7d on a flop of 7s 8s Jd. Unfortunately for him his opponent, well known online player Johnny Lodden had also flopped a set holding 8c 8d. The turn was the 10h and both players ended up all in, with Allen just a 2% favorite to either win or split the pot. Jonny's set held up and Allen just smiled when he saw his opponents hand knowing there was nothing he could do.
On the feature table, young Adam Junglen raised to 2,200 with 8c 8s from middle position and it was folded to Sam Norman from the UK in the BB who moved all in for roughly 15,000 more with 10d 10s. Junglen made the call hoping for a race but saw he was an 8-1 underdog when the cards were turned over. The flop of 3c 8d Qs however ruined those odds and Junglen was now the 8-1 favorite, slightly less due to a backdoor straight draw for Norman. The 3s was no help on the turn and Junglen was now a 95% favorite. However, the 10c on the river helped Norman win the hand and left him looking very shocked.
Magnus Persson eliminated one player when he flopped a set with KK against AA and 3rd place finisher Matthew McCullough took a hit when his KK lost to a turned set. All in all day 2B really defied the odds.
