When people talk about hands from poker tournaments, they usually describe huge stacks of chips being won or lost and not a win that equates to a quarter of the small blind!

During Day 2a of the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe, Greg ‘Fossilman' Raymer was involved in a hand with fellow professional, Erick ‘E-dog' Lindgren.

Raymer, who won the 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas for $5,000,000, is more famous for the holographic glasses than his table chat.

His nickname of ‘Fossilman' was given to him due to the fact he collects fossils as a hobby, uses one as a card protector and even used to sell them to make ends meet, early in his poker career.

Unlike some of his peers - Phil Hellmuth springs to mind - Raymer is not someone who discusses his play, nor is he one to scream expletives at his opponents after they beat him in a hand, but in the hand in question, he was compelled to talk to his opponent.

As the hand played out, Lindgren was informed by Raymer that he was a "simple, nice, polite desk worker," whilst describing his opponent as "the slick gambler that knows every angle."

After lightening the mood with his observations, Raymer bet on every street on a board that read Td 6c Kd Ts.

When the ten of hearts fell on the river, Raymer picked up three red chips, worth $5,000 each, and once again announced he had bet.

$15,000 was enough to put Lindgren all-in and after a brief pause ‘E-Dog' made the call for his tournament life.

When each player exposed their hole cards, the table chuckled as both players held King-Jack, meaning the hand was a tie as both players had two pairs, kings and tens with a jack kicker.

The table's dealer then started to divide the chips and due to being in closest proximity to the button, Raymer was awarded an extra 100 chips that could not be split due to the denomination of the chips in play.

When Raymer was informed of his miniscule windfall he let out a victorious "Yesssss!" despite the fact his "win" would only be enough to pay the ante on the next hand!

Whether Raymer's expression was sarcastic or not, it goes to show even the smallest of victories mean the world, to the best poker players in the world!
