Vicky is not quite in the clear when the flop comes Jc 3h 7h giving her opponent 5 outs, but is still an 82% favorite. This increases to 91% when the 9h comes on the river giving her the nut flush and taking one out away from her opponent, the Qh. The river is a devastating Qc however and Vicky regrettably doubled her opponent up.
Gus Hansen played a pot against 2004 World Champion Greg Raymer who opened the pot with 10h 10d before putting his trademark glasses on. Not intimidated, Gus re-raises with Ks 9s and Raymer just makes the call as a 68% favorite. His lead in increased to 78% after a flop of Jh 3s Qc, slightly more as he holds two of Gus's gutshot cards. Both check and the turn is the 9h giving Gus a pair, but increasing Raymer's lead to 91%. Gus check calls a bet from Raymer, maybe sensing that the river would be the 9c. Both check and Gus states ‘I win' to which Raymer replies ‘Thats a hell of a catch, sir.'
Eventual winner and Betfair Pro Annette Obrestad was involved in a hand against Beth Shak, wife of High Stakes Player Dan Shak. After some hefty preflop action, both players managed to get all in with Shak holding the Js 10s and Obrestad holding Jd 3d. Preflpo Shak was a 70% favorite to either win the hand or split it, but after getting it in on the flop of 10d 3h 2d she was only a 57% favorite, claiming she knew Obrestad was on a draw. The turn was the 2h which now increased Shak's lead to 75% in the hand, but ironically after calling for a Queen, the Qd fell on the river and gave Obrestad a flush.
Phil Hellmuth was also back in action dishing out the bad beats when he faced off against Chris Ferguson who was all in preflop for his tournament life. Chris held the Ad Qh and was in great shape being a 75% favorite against Hellmuth's Ah 10c. However, the 10d right in the window along with the 8s 6h gave Hellmuth the advantage and turned him into a 84% favorite to win the hand. Ferguson could not improve and his run at the WSOPE ended.
