One of the first victims of the day was David Benyamine. Against Andy Bloch, the pair saw the flop in a re-raised pot and after betting the 4c 4d 6d flop Bloch raised enough to put Benyamine all-in. David thought long and hard but eventually made a crying call and showed Kc Ks, miles behind Bloch's Ah Ad. Not King would come and save him and Benyamine will have to wait another year to win his second bracelet.
Phil Hellmuth was short stacked early on in the day when his Kc Kh was cracked by a ‘maniacs' 9h 9d. He would later double up Eli Elezra for a small amount when Phil called his all in holding Ac Qc, trailing Elezra's As Ks. The flop was Kh 6c Kc and Elezra called for clubs as he wanted to go home! ‘Unfortunately' for Elezra his trip Kings helped up and was forced to continue to play for millions. He would later be eliminated with the 7h 8h after being called by Andy Bloch with AK, who hit a king on the flop. Hellmuth stayed in the hunt, later doubling up to over 24l.
Brandom Adams and Patrik Anontius, good friends and gambling associates would face off against each other in some big pots during the day. First off in a pot containing 5,500, with the board reading Ah 10c 9h 7d, Antonius bet 3,600 only to be check-raised to over 20k by Adams. Antonius thought a little before folding his hand. Later on Antonius had become short stacked and moved in with As 9s, only to be called by Adams holding Ah Kh. The board was all blanks and Antonius would be finished (no joke intended) for another year.
